Practice Does NOT Make Perfect

If you still think practice makes perfect, think again. Several books have been released in the last few years which have completely debunked the idea that just practicing will take you to the top of your profession.   Not only that, but if you think talent is responsible for creating the greatest successes, as if we were born with talent, once again, the data says otherwise.

Two key books “Talent is Overrated” written by Jeff Colvin and “The Outliers” written by Malcolm Gladwell show indisputable evidence that masters such as the Beatles, Mozart, Tiger Woods and Bill Gates first put in over 10 years of hard practice before they had any success.  But they didn’t just practice anything, what they did was called “Deliberate Practice.”

So what is Deliberate Practice?

Anyone can practice in their comfort zone for hours on end, but this won’t take you to the next level.  Instead, what the masters have all learned was deliberate practice, which focuses on practicing in the areas where you are struggling the most.. over and over until its perfected.  If you think about it, as a music artist you’ve probably found yourself  struggling with hitting a note, writing a chorus  or playing and singing at the same time, which is frustrating.  At that time, when you know you suck at it,  you have two choices, abandon it, or plow through it.  Since its difficult and it may be way out of your ability range, abandoning it might be a logical solution, but that won’t take you to the next level.

This is where Music Launch Pad comes in.  We have a course on how to use “Deliberate Practice” in all aspects of the the music industry including: musicianship, song writing, marketing, stage presence and many others.

Not only do we teach you how to use Deliberate Practice like the Beatles or Mozart, but we’ve  added “The Success Survey Guide, which helps you identify what your next step should be to take.  So  instead of trying to swallow an elephant in one bite or collecting dust with same old skills already have, you move up to the next level.  Finally, we use our 3 key feedback features “Take the Challenge,” “Action Steps” and “Pro Reviews” to help reinforce the skills you are struggling with most.

In the end you move up in the ranks, but don’t have to figure it all out by yourself.  Our system is designed to help you step by step through the process of getting yourself or your band to the next level, whether that be 300 fans per gig, licensing songs on National Television or selling your first 5,000 downloads.
