Top 10 Ways to Get More Facebook Fans with Timeline

get more fans on facebook

Well Facebook has done it again.  They’ve made it more difficult to get fans without paying for advertising.  Of course now that they’re a public company,  they’re pretty much obligated to screw anyone they can to please the stockholders by making as much money as humanly possible.  Well, all is not lost with this new timeline crap.  Lets check out some of the ways you can get fans and turn them into paying concertgoers or music buyers.

1. Give the browsers of your site an opportunity to “like” your FB page from your website.   Make sure you feature a like box on your own website so visitors can become Facebook fans without leaving the site.  You can use different apps or just a piece of code offered from Facebook widgets that allow you to show your fans and your fan count on your website.  Check this Feel Good Music site for reference.

2. Make videos on YouTube and put your Facebook fan page address as a watermark at the beginning and end of the video.  People like to engage on Facebook and will check you out there from YouTube.

3. On your website make sure you also use something like “sociable” if you have a WordPress site, which allows anyone to “share” your post on other social media sites including Facebook.

4. You can always pay for advertising on Facebook, but you need to set up a funnel so you can re-coup all the money you will spend on the ads.  I’m not talking about just sending people to your website or to iTunes.  I’m talking about setting up an autoresponder that gives away 2-3 songs in exchange for an email then sends multiple emails on autopilot and sells more (up-sells) CDs merch and mp3s.  To learn the ropes check out John Oszajka.

In addition to getting new fans you can use the “Reach Generator” to promote a post from your Fan Page. Typically an average of 16% of your fans are seeing your posts on their wall per week. By paying Facebook you can get that post displayed for a guaranteed 60-85% of your fans over the following month.

5. Put your Facebook fan page URL  on all your CDs, posters, etc.

6. Try Facebook “Offers,” a new Facebook story-type. These are like coupons, which help you put spread your promotional message to Facebook users by giving discounts.

7.  “Premium on Facebook,” is another new feature on Facebook ad platform that analyzes data about  your fan page users and features your ad accordingly in up to 5 targeted locations. Premium stories also go to mobile and smart phones.

8. Milestones are a feature of your biggest turning points and achievements in your career.  This will make you look somewhat legitimate and can bolster your chances someone will spend more time engaged with your music career.  Whether or not they buy or end up a fan is hard to say.

9. Create more and get yourself in front of people both on and offline.  This includes lots of live performances where you give out business cards with your Facebook address, have people sign up to your email list and online where you send out and share new songs, videos, cover songs and any content you can get out there.

10. Lastly don’t forget to make the following apps as tabs in your fan page: 1) music 2) buy 3) photos 4) events.  You can do more but FB will only display 4 at a time and these are the most important 4.  Check out my page again ChadScottMusic for reference.
